Miami Fishing Report… The Tilefish bite is On!
We had just perfect conditions for Tilefish fishing the past few days. With a medium North Current out on the one hundred fathom line and light winds from the South – South East, getting on the Golden Tilefish was easy. Using fresh cut bait like herring & Mackerel the bites were quick. The average fish was about eight pounds with the largest of the week at about 15lb. We were using 20lb spectra line and about 2 lb.of weight to hold bottom. Bites were quick and we were able to catch a limit of fish for each charter fairly quickly.
While we are fishing for Golden Tilefish we are also fishing a shark bait on the surface and a few live baits in the spread. We have been catching a few Silky Sharks and Dolphin (Mahi Mahi) while out in the deeper water. We also had a small Mako Shark hooked on a live Blue Runner that after a short battle managed to shake the hook free, lucky for him.
